Thanks for coming to meet folks with the same interests yourself!
This page is meant as a primer as what to expect when you arrive. I hope that by giving you background information we will all have a great time. Please read the entire page, and feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
Getting here

Were in Brownfield, Maine. It's far from any highway, so please take this into account when planning your trip. Allow extra time if you plan on sightseeing or pee often. (ha!). Please don't arrive before 7 p.m on Friday. I'll be at work! Heres a link for mapquest to help you find your way. PLEASE NOTE... the star is not where we are. We're at about the W in Brownfield in the view this link takes you to.
We're at 173 misty lane. Some maps call the road "old rt. 113", but the street sign is for misty lane. To get here, follow rt. 5/113 into brownfield center. There's a five corner intersection with a blinking light that doesn't blink. There's also a Gulf gas station at the corners. If you come in at night, it will come up on you quick .On the opposite side of the road of the gas station is Depot street.Take that road and follow it to the end. Take a right and go up about 1/2 mile. There's a black mail box on the right, number 173. That's it!
When you arrive, feel free to explore the property and look for a suitable campsite. I just ask that you keep it in the field or woods behind the house. There's a lean-to shelter back there too!
There's
enough room for at least 4, and more if you don't mind the floor. It's looking
full in this old pic, but don't worry about that, It's empty now. If you
prefer a more private site, ask me and i'll point them out.
The Dirt
This is the part where I explain what you can and can do here. Basically anything goes as long as it's respectable.
You're probably going to have a feeling of great seclusion here, but we do have neighbors. After 11-12 at night, let's try to keep the noise down some. I know it can be tough when there's a good group sittin' around a fire, but if we do it right, we can all do it again next year!
Speaking of fire, we have a pit right behind the house for everyones enjoyment. Do not make any new pits. We're probably going to put one out at the lean-to as well. If you're gathering wood, use dead and down only. Large logs will not burn. A good rule of thumb is to burn only wood that is your wrist size or smaller. Another note....the fall is dry, let's keep the fire down around waist high.
Pets are very welcome! Our dog Bud would like to meet you and yours!
About the house. We're trying to keep use of the house to a minimum. Of course there's the kitchen and bathroom to use, but let's try to plan meals together so as to keep traffic down. If you must shower, we're gonna put together designated times. Either in the morn' or eve for that purpose. Please clean up after yourself.
There's a loop road (trail, sorta) around the field, and a few others off the loop. These are all part of the property and are open. They do all dead end, though. If you bring your car to you tentsite, please stay on the roads or any area that is clear.
Let's try to pack out everything that you pack in. If you don't bring a garbage bag, ask me and i'll set you up. Nothing goes on the ground, and we do recycle anything that we can. We will take anything recyclable, except bottles and cans. Right up the street near the 5 corners is a Lion's Club receptacle for returnable bottles and cans.
Games and stuff.......it's all open. ping pong, horse shoes, uh tether ball, frisbee, canoes (please ask), and whatever YOU bring, and please do bring games and stuff.
If you're not down with camping, there's plenty of hotels and motels about 30 minutes away. I'll post a link to the chamber of commerce for your perusal.
I think this gets the dirt out of the way. Just remember that wwe all want to have a great time, and your cooperation is necessary.
Misc.
Please bring everything you need. Of course we're willing to help you out if you forgot something, but let's keep it to a minimum. Maybe we can get together for a potluck for every meal, or just some. There's a small grocerey store/sub and pizza shop about a mile out also.
I'm gonna try to get some extra oil, but don't plan on that for your return trip. Our reserve is just 55 galons. I do have connections in the area for collecting. Ask me and i'll set you up.
There's a softball field and beach volley ball court just beyond the store if anyone's interested. Also a pond for swimming and the Saco river for canoeing/kayaking. I bet it'll be chilly by then, though.
There's also a boat load of outdoor recreation in the area. I'm posting links on the left to some options. Feel free to add your ideas to this list by email or when you arrive. Disc Golf anyone?
It can get pretty cold at night in October. Please be prepared for overnight temps to get below freezing. It doesn't happen often in early October, but be warned. Here's the local weather. Of course, there's alway the fire to ward off the chills!
It sound like a drive up Mt. Washington may be in the plans!! Provided it isn't closed due to snow.A link for the auto road.
